If I had to tell you in one word what BikeCrave is, I’d probably pick this: Living.
To ride a bike is to be alive, to see the world in new ways, to feel exhiliration as well as challenges, and even disappointments. For these reasons (and some I can’t describe), I get on my bike, find a great road and give thanks.
As part of BikeCrave, I ask that you consider donating a ”Penny per mile” for each mile that you or I log to the charity of your choosing in the privacy of your life. It’s a small favor I’d like you to consider. I don’t collect money for me through BikeCrave. The small sponsor banners in the right column represent companies and organizations that have my personal support. I ask that you support them as well, and I invite your company to join BikeCrave in doing just a little bit more good. It’s not that hard. Really. But you have to crave it.
I hope you find something useful, fun, and maybe even inspirational on BikeCrave. My biggest wish is that you’ll help me build a unique place where we can all learn from each other, come what may. Pennies add up. So can people, ideas, words and pictures. I’m eager to hear from you. Let’s ride. And enjoy.
La vita e’ bella. Life is beautiful.

Enjoy your twitter posts and your blogs. Have a quick question though: I’m soon to be due new tires on my bike. For long distance riding where I’d love the combination of durability (few flats) and low weight, what can you recommend? I’m currently running Continental Race. Last year, to raise money for the program I direct, I rode from Houston to Gulf Shores, Alabama and I used the Specialized Armadillos. They are a bit heavy, but I did not have one flat in five and a half days and 550 miles. I’d like something lighter yet comparable in durability.
Thanks again for your contribution to our growing passion.

Hi Curt, right now, I am riding a combo of Continental tires on my three wheelsets: the 4000S, Grand Prix 4000 24mm, and Gatorskins. I prefer the 4000S right now. I used to ride Vittorias exclusively in 2009 (Pave 24mm, Corsa EVO CX, and Rubino). They’re all good, frankly. I’ll take a few flats and better road feel any day of the week. But I won’t go tubulars
, and I’m not a fan of Armadillos. Nearly broke a thumb trying to put one on a rim a few years back. Supple, they’re not. Thanks for coming by, and for reading BC!
