Specialized
Specialized – I am Specialized.
Confession: I own a 2009 Specialized Tarmac Pro SL, and my first Specialized was a 1984 Stump Jumper. Plain and simple, I love the brand and the innovation. Specialized was the first to introduce the category of “Endrance Performance” with its Roubaix. The American company (Morgan Hill, California) was initially known for mountain bikes and bike componentry. It got aggressive in road bikes and the pro peloton when hooking up with Mario Cippolini during the Aqua Sapone “zebra” kit days. Super Mario set the record for most Giro wins while aboard a Specialized E5 S-Works. From there, the momentum continued. Last year, Quick Step’s Stijn Devolder took Flanders; and Tom Boonen won Paris-Roubaix a week later. America has come to Europe. Flemish fans wear Specialized sweatshirts. How’s that for a switch?
