An admission: I like pumpkins. Their colors. Their seeds. Their flavor in steaming hot cup of joe, also known as a latte. Yep, it’s that time of year when a particular coffee shop chain from Seattle rolls out sweet pumpkin-laced concoctions that warm the belly and provide a solid mid-ride buzz. I guess that’s one good thing about riding. You can go mondo “foodie” every once in while. Why not? Food fuels the muscles and keeps things operational.
Water may hydrate, but coffee and various forms of scone, muffin or Madeline cookie (viva le France) keep sugar levels topped-off and glycogen stores steady. Foodie. Funky. I guess I’ve always been among the self-proclaimed legions who celebrate food. Let’s eat, drink and ride. What’s in your virtual musette bag when the fall season turns the air cooler and days shorter? For me, anything pumpkin will do, thank you.

- Dirt, mud and rocks I suddenly have an utter fascination with MTB. I’ve always been a straight coffee guy. Blonde and sweet though. When the weather does turn cold I do like a cup of hot chocolate just like all the other little kids.
I’m with you on liking the taste of pumpkin, although I don’t seem to buy too many things with that taste for some reason. I do like the Pumpkin scones over at Starbucks. Enjoy the fall tasty treats and, as always, Enjoy Your Ride.

Pumpkin makes a great adjunct for beer.
Another reason to ride: beer.
It’s been crazy warm for weeks and in within one night, Friday to Saturday, it just turned into yellow leaves season. Noooo! Knee and arm warmers, vest and of course, coffee. Lot’s of it! And anything sweet; banana nut bread from my favourite Café La Sandwicherie sure stands up high on my list of “keep me warm” goodies!
