I want to ride this

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I saw this this over coffee. I instantly fantasized about being in New York City, throwing my leg over the top tube and heading uptown, downtown, over the river to Brooklyn and beyond. Ever feel that way while traveling? I did on a recent trip to Washington, D.C. In fact, burned a vacation day to cover the place on a rented bike (Specialized townie rig) and helmet. Wore adidas Sambas instead of beloved Sidis, warm-up pants in place of trusty Vermarc bibs, and tattered  T-Shirt over a full-zip cycling jersey. Not optimal. But still fun. How do you manage when away from home? Photo credit: onesevenone.

  2. Post-ride You know the sensation — the rush. Endorphins take hold shortly after finishing a big day on the bike. Nothing compares. At least nothing I can think of. It’s a happy place. After the last climb, the final pull at 30 mph, and the dismount, all is right with the...
  3. Before the ride Ever have a day when you didn’t want to ride, but got out there anyway? Those usually turn out to be among the best on the bike. I can’t explain it. Expectations are dialed back. You ride within yourself. Then somewhere along the route, your body begins to respond positively....
  4. Why we ride Believe it or not, we’re coming up on the first birthday of BikeCrave. June 8 was the official first blog post, to be exact. Writing and musing about cycling in all forms has been a blast. I must admit, half the battle is coming up with something worthy of sticking...
  5. Beauty you can ride For Monday (actually Sunday night), all I’m going to do is post this image, and links to the proprietor and rest of this particular bike from multiple angles. Enjoy....
