Staying power

Here’s a short video from Mavic (BC’s training wheel of choice) that delivers fabulous perspective on the “Hell of the North,” aka Paris-Roubaix. The race may be over, but the sights, sounds and experience stay with us long after the awards ceremony, flowers and kisses. Yes, Zipp gets to trumpet itself as the wheel that carried Fabian Cancellara to the top step, but the bright yellow service cars — and motos — of Mavic remain central to the race, the country, and the culture.

  4. Crash diet I want to get off this crash diet. Not a fad food thing. No. I’m tired of watching pros hit the deck. I’m full. Satiated. No mas. Why the steady parade of fallen riders, snapped bones and torn flesh? I don’t get it. On a good day, things look quite advanced,...
  5. Always be prepared You never know when it could happen, so it’s always best to be prepared. For flats, that is. I counted 30+ flats in 2009. It was pretty much the year of the puncture in more ways than one. I took a drywall nail through through a pair of Paves, as well...
