I’m obssessed with Mont Ventoux. Call it a long-distance love affair. I need to ride Ventoux. And so does every cyclist who enjoys professional cycling and the Tour de France, right? This link to the Rapha Continental site does a nifty job of framing the “bald” mountain, also part of Etape. As the crown jewel of Stage 20 on July 25th, Ventoux will determine the winner of the 2009 TdF. Of that I have no doubt. I can’t wait to see a real race that delivers a real winner. Doping debates. Team scandals. Old scores settled. Endless politics. These are part of the sideshow to keep us entertained between the actual drama of athletes racing for a podium spot while separated by minutes, possibly only seconds. What other sport can provide this tableau? How else could you ever spend July? It’s why Ventoux is Tuesday’s Crave.

- Khaki: for chinos only Hands down, the most fugly pro cycling kit for 2010 has to belong to to Footon-Servetto.
