“If you try to win, you might lose. But if you don’t try to win, you’ll always lose.” - Jens Voigt
What’s not to like about Jens Voigt? Seriously. The man speaks to me on several levels every time I watch video of him or see his photos. In professional bike racing, I can’t think of anyone who is more pure in his love for what he does.
When it comes to big-time stage races, ask yourself: What would Jens do? There’s no doubt in my mind about the answer. Ride hard. Work for the team leader. Go off on a breakaway, even with the unlikely chance he might succeed. Exhibit class, no matter what. This 2-minute video archive is priceless. Listen to his words. Watch his expression. Tell me that Jens does not sum up the beauty of the sport. I dare you. In the meantime, feel free to chase away the winter blues by with a visit to a fabulous set of pro peloton shots here from Patrick Frauchiger. And before I forget, here are the Garmin Connect stats from Sunday, including Torrey Pines repeats 6X in 53-21 gearing/easy tempo.

- Over under Sunglasses and helmet straps. Oh, the burning question of over and under. Do helmet straps go under sunglasses? Or is it acceptable to wear them over sunglasses? These are potential cycling fashion land mines. Wear incorrectly, and you could be jettisoned from the Saturday group ride (just kidding). Mismatch them,...

Nice post! Every sport has those guys you always root for. Jens is one of those guys. The true measure of the person isn’t how many wins, or how many fans, its what his peers say. I’ve only heard major kudos about Jens from his peers.
Jens is kind of like Brett Favre, you can’t help but like him. Classy guy! Great post, and thanks for the video!
